WWW – Vani Hari

Vani Hari

This week’s wonder woman is Vani Hari. She rocks. She is an author and leader of an army, the #foodbabearmy. Time magazine named her one of the top 30 most influential people on the internet. Vani is passionate about making our food industry safer and healthier. One by one she attacks major corporations and her following is a force to be dealt with, bringing companies like Kellogs, Starbucks and Subway to their knees. Thanks to Vani some of the foods you eat on a daily basis are being changed to get rid of unnecessary and harmful ingredients.

I absolutely love her message. She is standing up for our rights to have healthy and truthful presentations of our food. I applaud her for all of her hard work and thank her. Vani reminds us that one person can make the world change. After being sick and overweight herself she decided to make a healthy lifestyle her number one priority. In doing so she realized that a lot of the time you don’t actually know what you are eating. I can hardly pronounce many ingredients in processed food let alone comprehend what they are and what they will do to my body. Vani is stepping up to put an end to the madness.

Recently Vani attended the Democratic convention to gain attention for her cause, GMO labeling. Currently in the US GMO labeling is not required. There are 64 countries that require GMO labeling, China and Ethiopia among the list, but the United States has yet to be seen. Once a great leader for Human Rights is now falling behind the times. There are many ingredients in our food today in the US that are illegal is many other countries. Vani feels this is unacceptable and fights for the US to get with the times and protect its people from corporations who’s main concern is profits.

vani hari2Vani is not only a leader for our food rights but also for women. Her strong and powerful will is a great example for women. She has shown us all that anything is possible if we simply put out mind and will to it. Her powerful voice is a beacon for women and all Americans. My favorite quality of Vani is her mama bear relentlessness to stand up food safety. She educates herself and goes full steam ahead to get what she knows is safe, regardless of what the FDA has approved. Thanks to Vani I have confidence to educate myself and stand behind my beliefs.

With todays access to knowledge there is no reason that we cannot be just as educated as those who work for the FDA, except we aren’t biased by big corporations money. The more I look into food safety the more obvious it is that we must educate and stand up for ourselves because the FDA is not. Simply take a look at what other countries are doing and banning, one has to question why some FDA approved ingredients are labeled toxic in other countries but not in our own. Vani calls for us to empower ourselves and stop following politicians and the FDA to the slaughterhouse.
