Wonder Woman Wednesday

As I am sure you can tell by now, my blog, my heart, is passionate for women. Lifting them up, empowering them, and being an outlet for their stories. I love interviewing women, but I also want to highlight women from the past or women I might not be able to get into contact with. I want to share women’s stories who have changed their neighborhood, city, country and the world. So, starting next Wednesday I will be posting stories of women who inspire me to be more, to make a difference, who help me define what being a woman means to me. Wonder Woman Wednesday is not in reference to the skimpy dressed, super hero, barbie-like figure that we associate with that name, but the WONDER that is WOMEN. Wonder can be defined as a miraculous event, or remarkable phenomenon. This is the wonder I am speaking of.

Yesterday I was visiting my Grandma for her birthday and we watched the latest Super Soul Sunday with Oprah and Joan Chittister. I was so inspired by Sister Joan. She has a truly amazing view of the world and especially of women. She said, “Jesus was a feminist.” And I laughed, thinking about all the priests who stand at the front of Catholic churches, some still not allowing women to be on the altar, let alone say mass themselves, and hurling over at the thought of Jesus being a feminist. Oprah asked Joan what people could do to help women around the world, and she responded “Something.” I thought that was so simple and perfect a response that I decided to listen. This is my something. This is my place where I can lift women up, empower them, and share their stories. Women matter and it is up to women to make that statement known.

I want this weekly post to be something for everyone, men and women, to look forward too. If you have a Wonder Woman you’d like to see featured please leave a comment!

Today, you are all, my Wonder Woman Wednesday!
