Another Tuesday – Emily Wallace

Another tue PIC

Well its just Another Tuesday and I am here with Emily Wallace!

Emily Wallace and I met my freshman year of College at the University of Nebraska, about 6 years ago. We were both working for the Child Guidance Center (CGC) as youth treatment specialists. Long story short, we worked with children with pretty severe behavioral disorders. Our days at CGC were rewarding, chaotic, and sometimes down right awful, but it was overall an amazing experience. Emily and I became very close while working here and our friendship grew outside of work.

We won’t go into details about our college adventures 😉

Emily has always been there for me, no matter what life threw at me. She was only a phone call away from being at my door at 3 am after being dumped by a long-term boyfriend, or a night out on the town after a glorious victory in the courtroom. Emily has been a cornerstone in the worst and greatest moments of my adult life. She is one of the most dependable people I have ever known. She is one of my greatest friends.

{Emily and I circa 2011}

Emily is now working in Lincoln, NE as a social worker. She has an amazing heart for children and families. Her work is inspiring and I am so proud of how far she has come. The field of “helping” is a hard field to work in. It can be so draining and discouraging but Emily was truly born for this. I can’t imagine her doing anything else.

A positive attitude doesn’t seem grand enough to describe Emily’s demeanor. Emily is like an explosion of laughing glitter. She has an unreal ability to be a light no matter what is going on in her life or yours. She will stand strong in her happiness and force you to come with her. Frowns and negativity simply can’t exist in her presence.

Emily was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma a couple months ago and her positivity has never wavered, never, not even now. I will never forget the phone call of her telling me she had cancer. You would have thought we were simply talking about a flat tire, stolen purse, or some other minor life event that she simply was going to take care of, a bump in the road she would handle with grace just like always. Again, never wavering in her upbeat positive tone.

{Her Daily Routine}

In my first Another Tuesday post Emily will take us through a day as a social worker and as a cancer patient. She describes her schedule, chemo regiment, and what its like to be a working, 25 year old woman who is losing her hair to chemo. To top it off Emily is baring it all and unveiling photos of her new look for the first time here. I am honored to have Emily as my first interview. She is the definition of beautiful and I am so thankful for her friendship.

{One last thing! Emily Wallace is 25 so the wish foundation does not grant her a wish…I am asking you to help her get a wish! Emily’s wish is to go to Bora Bora. I want to take her! Grant her wish and go to this link to donate! –>

{If we can get enough money to send Emily to Bora Bora I will tattoo #kissmysass on my butt! I am so serious. If you can’t donate you can at least click on the link and share it on Facebook. Share share share!}

So listen to our interview below, get your check books out and admire pictures of the most beautiful girl in the world, without further a due I give you Emily Wallace.
