hi dolls, I just finished writing a piece for an online magazine. They asked me to write about my experience living in the mountains etc. […]
Ashley is my friend Kelsey’s big sister. She was (and still is) the cool big sister I wanted to be just like. She was in college and in art school when I was in middle school. I was really into painting then and I remember her giving me one of her art assignments she did for school, and I felt like Pablo had just given me one of his sketches.
She also convinced me that mascara was made of bat poop right before Kelsey and I left for a high school dance. I was horrified by this fact but I was more horrified by the thought of going to a dance with no make up on, so I went to a dance believing I had bat poop on my eyes. Makes you wonder about me doesn’t it? Me too.
Anyways Ashely and I are (mostly) grown up now and she is a mother of two beautiful boys, married to a police officer, and working as a Photographer. If you can believe it, in her spare time she fights for women who can’t fight for themselves. She is a co founder of The New Colossus, which has just recently been given the title of a non-profit in Sioux Falls, SD. Her work for women who are being trafficked is incredible. I am so honored to have had a chance to speak with her and be educated on what human trafficking means in America today.
